2022 Turks and Caicos Events

With year-round beautiful weather, it may be difficult deciding when to travel to Turks and Caicos. If you would like to visit this beautiful island we call home during a major event, check out our list of 2022 Turks and Caicos events. Please note that due to COVID-19, some events may be cancelled or rescheduled as a result. All events and dates are subject to change.

The Chocolate Lovers Showcase
February 5, 2022; The Palms
Calling all chocolate lovers! Don’t miss this single-day culinary event. In an effort to raise money for the Turks and Caicos Salvation Army, a variety of resorts, cafes and shops all provide both sweet and savory chocolate goodies for you to sample. The judges base their decision on the best use of chocolate. No need to feel guilty about these calories, since it’s for a good cause!

Valentine’s Day Cup
February 12, 2022; Bambarra Beach, Middle Caicos
Join the crowds on the islands of North and Middle Caicos (a quick 30-minute ferry ride from Providenciales) to watch or participate in the model sailboat races. All miniature sailboats are hand crafted, which is steeped deep in TCI culture for many generations. This event will give you an opportunity to spend some time with the locals. While Providenciales may be home to ~31,000 people, Middle Caicos is home to about 400.

Wine Cellar Golf and Fishing Tournament
March 10, – 13, 2022;
Similar to the Valentine’s Day Cup, this event lives to serve local charities. This family friendly event offers things to do for all ages, but one of the most exciting aspects of this day is watching the weighing and auction of all the fish caught. Top prize for the heaviest fish is up to $2500 per day! Calcutta reached almost $100,000 Raffle prizes throughout the day spare no expense and have even included a Jeep Wrangler Hybrid, thanks to Bayview Motors and TAG Heuer watch. You can book a charter for this event and get your own chance to win big!

Kite Flying Competition
April 18, 2022; Children’s Park in the Lower Bight Beach Park
This annual Kite Flying Competition takes place every year on Easter Monday. This is another great event to bring your whole family to. If you forgot your kite, there are other activities for you to participate in such as a sack race, Easter egg hunt and tug-o-war. Prizes will be determined based on select categories including smallest kite, largest kite, most artistic kite, best traditional kite, and more. Also be sure to check out the Sandcastle Building Competition and enjoy free boat rides thanks to our friends at Provo Sailing Academy. For families this event is definitely one of our highly recommended 2022 Turks and Caicos events.

Race for the Conch Eco -Swim

June 25, 2022; In Front of Ricky’s Flamingo Café at Ocean Club Resort.
This race in the open ocean is a great opportunity to get in a training race or add to your bucket list of races to do. Distances for all swimmers!

Caicos Classic Annual Release Tournament
May/June 2022 (Exact date TBD); Turtle Cove Marina
One of our personal favorite events (of course) is the Caicos Classic Annual Release Tournament! This annual fishing tournament, while providing a great time, promotes marine conservation and benefits the Billfish Foundation. All caught billfish are 300 points each! Young anglers can also compete amongst themselves. Our team at Grand Slam Fishing Charters hopes to see you there!

Caribbean Food and Wine Festival
November 2022 (Exact date TBD); Various Grace Bay Resorts
For all of our foodies looking to enjoy Turks and Caicos by way of their palate, we urge you to consider visiting our island for Caribbean Food and Wine Festival this fall. Hob nob with master chefs and exotic wine connoisseurs as you indulge in the most incredible cuisine our island has to offer. You may encounter a welcome dinner at Amanyara, a luncheon at Solana, and even a gourmet Safari experience where festival guests get to hop around to different restaurants and sample a little of everything. All you need to bring is a friend and your appetite!

Turks & Caicos International Film Festival (TCIIF)
November 2022 (Exact date TBD); Various Venues in Providenciales
Grab your popcorn and tickets and head to the Turks & Caicos International Film Festival! With an emphasis on being environmentally conscious, you can engage in tutorials and discussions with successful filmmakers and conservationists. See the production talent from our islands.

Conch Festival
November 2022 (Exact date TBD); Various venues in Providenciales
No blog post on 2022 Turks and Caicos events would be complete without mention of the Conch Festival. Held every November in Provo, this beach side event attractions both tourists and seasoned locals to celebrate our country’s most famous delicacy. It typically kicks off with a conch fritter eating contest with cash prizes for the winners. Then there is a conch knocking competition followed by conch peeling competition, which last took place at the popular restaurant Froggie’s on da Beach. But make no mistake, that the main objective of this exciting festivals is to have the island’s best chefs compete for the #1 spot. Who will win bragging rights this year?

Maskanoo (Boxing Day)
December 26, 2022; Various venues in Providenciales
Maskanoo is an annual street festival held on December 26th (Boxing Day). After a quiet Christmas Day, the next day comes alive! Enjoy delicious food, listen to live music followed by a parade. You might be wondering why it’s called “Maskanoo.” Maskanoo comes from a masquerade tradition that combine traditional African culture with costumed balls. Grab a costume, your best mask and get ready for a full day and night of partying, celebrating, and parading down Grace Bay strip as you listen to loud drums, whistles and horns.

New Year’s Eve & Junkanoo
December 31, 2022; Island Wide
Junkanoo has been celebrated in Turks and Caicos with roots dating back to slavery era. Traditionally, Junkanoo was a celebration of freedom and was originally celebrated on Christmas and New Years day when the slaves had off. To this day, the tradition remains the same and we celebrate freedom and cheers to a new year. Be sure to check out the traditional bright colored costumes that are hand made along with the hand-crafted instruments being played.  Let’s get ready to toast to an even better year 2023!

Move a Thon Turks and Caicos

January 2023; Distances for all runners, 5k, 10k ½ and Full Marathon. Prizes and all funds raised go to support Nutrition Awareness and help feed those on the island in need.
